| As a part of our investment in the
community, St. Francis along with the Stanford Blood Center, sponsors
community blood drives to meet the needs of area residents who need
blood. Blood shortages are becoming more frequent as the population
ages. The need for blood supplies increases but the pool of donors
declines due to age limitations and a reduced pool of donors overall. By
sponsoring blood drives, the St. Francis community helps meet an
important community need.
Blood is essential for accidents and emergencies and for people who
have cancer, sickle cell anemia and other illnesses. Some people need
regular blood transfusions just to live. Nearly 5 million people receive
blood transfusions every year, and your donation can make the difference
between life and death.
Giving blood is simple and convenient and the Stanford Blood center
team that comes on site with their mobile blood center insures that your
donation is safe, quick and professionally handled.
In addition to offering your help as a general volunteer during our
periodic blood drives, we are looking for a representative from
each of the ecclesial communities to promote the events, help guide
signups, and make sure the event is included in your communities
announcements.
Sign up today. Make sure that your neighbor has the blood they need
when they need it, just as you would want it to be there if and when you
need it.
If you are interested in volunteering for either or you have
additional
questions, please
email us.
