Thank you to all who are supporting our efforts and helping us as we shepherd the parish through the transition process that the Diocese recommends when a pastor is retiring. In order to provide an accurate assessment of the parish, we need your help in answering the following questions supplied by the Diocese: We ask all parishioners to pray, reflect and carefully consider your responses to the questions listed below. We encourage you to talk with your family, friends and other parishioners to discern what you envision for the future of SFOA.

1. How did you feel when you first heard that Fr. John is  leaving?
2. As a Parish, what do we need to keep?
3. As a Parish, what do we need to let go of?
4. As a Parish, what do we need to develop, begin, and create for the future?
5. What gifts, qualities, and talents do we need in a leader to help us move toward
    our vision?
6. What gifts, qualities, and talents do the parishioners bring to such a process?

We will have information gathering sessions after every Mass on two consecutive weekends, Sept. 6-7 and Sept. 13-14, in the hope that all parishioners would participate in one session. Each session will last about 45 minutes to an hour as we write down your brief and clear responses to each question. Those attending each session will have an opportunity to indicate which answers are most important to them, which ones have the highest priority for them. We will collate your responses and priorities to the questions, together with the parish Financial and Facility reports, and send our complete report to the Vicar for Clergy by early December. The entire Clergy Personnel Board will then meet with the Bishop who makes the final decision. Our report will be available to all parishioners, and will be shared with our next leader.

Sincerely,
The Transition Team: Pete Adams, Caroline Isaacs, Sylvia Alvarez,
Rose Jao (co chair), Mary Fitzgerald, Nhat Nguyen, Marcos Herrera,
Chris Simpson, Ginny Hinkle, Jerry Szelong (chair), John Toole
