1.  Introduction and Requirements

The parish Quiceniera program recognizes the importance of this celebration in the life of a young woman and seeks to help the person prepare through prayer, study, and service.  The parish celebrates a Quiceniera for young woman of 15 years of age who are active members of the parish and are involved in the faith formation programs of the parish such as Generation of Faith and/or the youth ministry programs. If a family is interested in joining the parish and becoming members they can find out how to do so by clicking on Membership. They need to be participating members for six months prior to the being able to set a date for the Quiceniera.  Most of the parishes providing Quicenieras have similar requirements. There is a parish that celebrates Quicenieras without the requirement of parish membership. This is St. Leo Church, 88 Race St., San Jose, 408-293-3503.

2. The Preparation Program

The young woman participates in the parish Confirmation program and is encouraged to be involved in the youth ministry activities of the parish.  She is assigned a “guia” – a young adult minister who will meet with her to assist her in preparing and reflecting on this experience. There is a reflection book provided for this purpose.  She completes ten hours of community service.  After completing a-c she meets with the priest to plan the ceremony. We do not presently have a priest who speaks Spanish on the staff but we can assist the family in finding someone.

 3. Cost & How to Register

The cost of the program is $45 for Generations of Faith, $50 for Confirmation, and $300 for the Quiceniera preparation program. To register please contact Will Sousae at 408-223-1562 x316.
