networking

Losing a job can be an opportunity…

bullet An opportunity to re-evaluate where you are going in this world.

bullet An opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, people who have different life experiences and backgrounds than you do. Build a deeper network

bullet An opportunity to deepen your faith, understand what God is hoping for you to do.

We know of a lot of people who have given up, they are in pain, but they hold back from joining groups because it is too embarrassing. Help us form a small non-threatening job support groups of 6 – 8 people who focus, encourage and support each other until they get jobs. This is not a “touchy-feely” get together, but a serious collaboration to help each other get jobs.

  • Flexible grouping: group picks the time and place to meet once a week
  • While spiritually based and driven, not limited to creed
  • Agree to support and interact on a once-a week basis
  • Commit to participate until they find a job
  • Confidential. Keep in contact through a private Yahoo group
  • Formal group training not required. SFAN will train you

If you are interested in forming a group, email SFAN@sfoasj.org for an advisor to contact you. (This program was developed and tested by the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church “Career Actions Ministry”) and has been extremely successful for the 1982, 1990 and 2000 downturns.
